1. Rumevite Stud Beef Meal is suitable for feeding to all classes of stud cattle weighing greater than 120 kg liveweight. Cattle weighing less than 120 kg liveweight should be fed Barastoc Calf Meal until they reach this weight.
2. Before starting to feed Rumevite Stud Beef Meal ensure that the appropriate animal husbandry procedures are completed – consult a veterinarian for advice. Cattle should be drafted into groups of similar size and age.
3. Before starting to feed Rumevite Stud Beef Meal ensure that all cattle have been fed with palatable hay to appetite for the first day – ensure that all cattle are full with palatable hay
4. Start feeding cattle with Rumevite Stud Beef Meal at a rate of 0.5 kg per 100 kg liveweight per day. Gradually increase the rate of feeding each day for the next 21 days up to 2.0kg per 100 kg liveweight per day.
5. Rumevite Stud Beef Meal can either be fed in troughs or self-feeders.
6. When feeding Rumevite Stud Beef Meal in a self-feeder or trough, ensure that pasture, or palatable hay is readily available, and that cattle are able to eat this forage to appetite at all times.
7. When using self-feeders, adjust slide settings to regulate feed intake and achieve recommended feeding rates. The feeder slide should be set so that cattle have to lick the feed out from under the slide.
8. When feeding in self-feeders, stud cattle will require up to 35 cm trough space per head, depending upon their liveweight
9. When feeding in troughs, stud cattle will require up to 65 cm trough space per head, depending on their liveweight.
10. If using self-feeders in the paddock, locate feeders away from water sources to encourage grazing out. When pastures become grazed out the feeders should be moved to a new area, or hay provided in racks.
11. If feeding by hand into troughs, split the daily allocation into two feeds.
